Meet Yael

Hi there! I’m so glad you’re here and are considering taking the first step towards change. I have made it my life’s work to help hopeful, expectant and new parents find healing, harmony & happiness. It’s been an honor to support my clients on their journey towards self-discovery and growth.

My work as a therapist began at a nonprofit community health center which supported women struggling with anxiety, depression, relationships, life transitions and more. I later received specialized training at a nonprofit parenting center, where I worked with new and seasoned parents alike, ran therapy groups, and supported individuals and couples through relational challenges, parenting struggles and personal hardship. After opening my own practice, I focused on supporting women and parents throughout all stages of their pregnancy and parenting journeys. I have completed extensive advanced training in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International (PSI) and Maternal Mental Health Now (MMHN), and couples work through the Gottman Institute. I have worked with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and non-traditional relationship structures, and am LGBTQIA+ affirming.

I believe the relationship between client and therapist is the most critical factor in therapy. As such, I believe it is my responsibility to be my authentic self in the therapy room as well. I am not a blank slate. I may have the expertise, but you are the expert of your own experience and story. My role is to witness you, to hold space, and to accompany and guide you on your journey.

My Approach

Each person comes to see me with their own unique story and needs. While I tailor my approach to best meet each individual client, I largely work from a psychodynamic perspective. This means that together, we will help you uncover unconscious mechanisms that are impacting your thoughts, behaviors, relationships and choices. I utilize attachment theory to explore early childhood relationships that have shaped how you view yourself, others and the world around you. I frequently incorporate mindfulness-based and mind-body techniques. I will simultaneously provide practical tools and skills to relieve symptoms of pain and distress and to allow for the deeper work to occur.

Essentially, I believe the aim of therapy should be to increase insight and self-awareness so you can begin to make the best choices for your authentic self. Therapy has the power to transform symptoms of distress into healing, to deepen self-understanding to create harmony in your relationships, and ultimately to find happiness.
